Taking a taxi

"Salve. Vorrei andare in via Roma 12, per favore."

"Hello. I would like to go to 12 Roma Street, please."

"Certo, signora. C'è un ospedale là, vero?"

"Of course, madam. There is a hospital there, right?"

"Sì. Sto andando a trovare mia suocera. E' caduta dalle scale e si è rotta l'anca."

"Yes, it is. I am going to visit my mother-in-law. She fell down some stairs and broke her hip."

"Mi dispiace. E' gentile da parte sua andare a trovarla. Alla gente di solito non piacciono le suocere."

"I am sorry to hear that. It is nice of you to go and see her. People usually don't like their mother-in-laws."

"E' vero, ma la mia è davvero gentile e andiamo molto d'accordo."

"That's true, but mine is really nice, and we get along very much."

"Quanto vorrei che mia suocera fosse così. E' così antipatica con me."

"I wish my mother-in-law was like that. She is always very unpleasant to me."

"Che peccato. Perché pensa di non piacerle?"

"That's a shame. Why do you think she doesn't like you?"

"Non lo so. Io la tratto sempre bene. Forse semplicemente non le piacciono i tassisti."

"I don't know. I am always nice to her. Maybe she just does not like taxi drivers."

"E' possibile. A molti non piacciono i tassisti."

"That is possible. Many people dislike taxi drivers."

"Sì, è vero. Ma non capisco perché".
"Nemmeno io."

"Yes, that is true. But I don't understand why."
"I don't either."
